It was a lousy evening and the summer heat acted as a catalyst to spoil my mood. Scrolling through a web page in my mobile browser, I saw a quote and my eyes halted for a moment, *blink-blink* and then continued scrolling. In no time, I slept off.
A couple of hours passed…
I woke up fresh, and just like other millennials of this generation, I entered the pass code and this flashed on my screen.
“The trouble is, you think you have time.” – Buddha
For a moment, I was like “Meh, it’s just another quote”. And then, those 8 words hit me hard. The innate self in me started howling these in various frequencies.
You think you have time?
You think you have time!!
YOU THINK YOU HAVE TIME?!?!
Drops of sweat trickle from my temple. I whisper “no”.
This may feel dramatic for few readers. Take a deep breath and think… Ask yourself the same question… Do you have time?
For a person who is settled for a 9-5 job and a convincing paycheck, the answer may be “yes, I have time”. On the other hand, for a heart that’s set on fire by the wildest dreams, the answer would be “No, I don’t have time”. Of the 1,440 minutes, we get a day, there are people who work for Corporates, people who work towards their passion, and people who do both. I am a person who works for a Corporate 10 hours a day and in the remaining time, I work towards the things I feel passionate about. I know there are a lot of people like me out there…
At the end of each day, when you go to bed with burning eyes and an extremely tired body, you won’t have regrets. You know you’ve done something productive on and off your professional/personal life. And, only this makes you satisfied. This… makes you sleep.
“It’s the possibility of having a dream come true that makes life interesting” – The Alchemist, Paulo Coelho
In order to make your dream come true, you need to work hard. From cutting a tomato to dancing with fire, if that’s your passion and if you want to excel in it, obviously you need to put effort. Today is not going to be the same as tomorrow or the day after. All you have right now is “NOW“. Now’s never going to come again unless until some super talented, nerdy physicist invents the time machine.
Opportunities are widespread and it’s right in front of you. All you need to do is work for it and then grab it. This whole process may take a year or half a decade or even half a century! If you feel you are passionate and have a dream to achieve, you need to go get it. No matter what circumstances you are in, no matter you receive worst criticisms, no matter if people degrade you, do not let your dreams die inside you. It’s just one single life and then you’re gone… I am gone… We are gone…
It’s now or never. So sit up, take a deep breath, and don’t let that wildfire inside you die. Let it burn…. Let it burn forever.
Remember, We don’t have time…
